The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) in Pakistan, aligned with the values of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is implementing the IRCCCE project with funding from the UBS Optimus Foundation. The project aims to strengthen the climate resilience of vulnerable communities in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral by:
- Protecting against climate-induced disasters
- Reducing pressure on natural resources
- Promoting nature-based, adaptive agricultural practices for economic recovery
AKF employs a community-first approach, ensuring development initiatives are inclusive, sustainable, and context-specific. The IRCCCE project integrates gender-responsive strategies, acknowledging that women, girls, and persons with disabilities are disproportionately affected by climate change.
To enhance inclusivity and impact, AKF will conduct a gender gap analysis within its climate resilience efforts. The findings will inform an action plan and be shared through a collaborative workshop with AKDN agencies and civil society partners. This will be followed by a two-day capacity-building training for AKF/AKDN staff and beneficiaries, equipping them with practical tools to implement gender-responsive climate adaptation strategies.
