Mid-term Evaluation of Solid Waste Management, Income Generation, and Environmental Protection

In 2021, PMS and humedica initiated a project focused on solid waste recycling in the urban areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Building upon the success of the pilot project “Saaf Mahool,” which ran between 2018 and 2021 in four informal settlements in Islamabad, benefiting approximately 2,000 families, the current project aims to expand and deepen the positive outcomes. The primary objective is to significantly improve the health and income conditions of 10 low to middle-income communities through effective, community-based Solid Waste Management initiatives, increased public awareness, and coherent policies.
